Who am I?

I’m Heidi. I’m a wife, and a mother of two girls. I am also a food lover and obsessed with cooking and eating. I am a dietitian so I care about nutrition, but it’s not the be all and end all for me. I am crazy, messy, and I talk. A lot.

I have a pretty strong food philosophy and I could talk about it for hours. I believe in real food, 90% of the time. Real food to me, means food that is plant based, made from scratch, grown at home when possible, it starts from real ingredients (not food-like products that already have a million ingredients before you cook them), and it resembles something that your great, great grandma would recognise. I like to eat seasonally where possible, and eat veggies that taste like veggies. It’s the healthiest, happiest way to eat. Less processed, pre-packaged crap and more fresh.

Part of this food philosophy though is that for the other 10% of time you eat whatever the hell you feel like. Sometimes I feel like a burger so I will get one, sometimes I feel like a block of chocolate so I will get one, and sometimes we all just feel like a big ‘ol box of fish fingers. Shit happens. Don’t beat yourself up about it, just don’t make it your everyday. My food philosophy is realistic because sometimes being all about real food makes you unhealthy with stress, so you’ve gotta have some balance.

On this blog, I write recipes and ramblings. The recipes speak for themselves. The ramblings are, well, the ramblings of a sleep deprived mother, the busy working girl, a wife, a female, basically just shit that I want to say.

Hope you enjoy.

Write me comments and messages, it makes me feel special.

Big hugs,

Heidi
